This week, we’re covering the fabulous Carly and her Food Freedom success story!

In my coaching programs, my goal is always to help my client develop a healthier relationship with food and her body. This looks different for everyone (as I cover in my book!), but for Carly, it looked like clearing up all the mental space that was occupied by worrying about food and her body. During our time working together, Carly actually started and expanded her own creative business — Carlligraphy and Crafts — with all the extra mental energy she had. It’s amazing what we can bring to life when we’re not obsessing about food/our body all day, and Carly is amazing proof of that!

8-Week Food Freedom Mentorship Client (1-on-1)

What has been your biggest accomplishment in your relationship with food and your body?

Over my 8 weeks, and in the time since, I have been able to change my relationship with food. Despite 2 university degrees in nutrition to learn what was “healthy”, my relationship with food was far from healthy. What I was eating - or told myself I wasn’t “allowed to eat” - stressed me out from the moment I woke up, dreading about what I was going to have for every meal, to when I went to sleep, regretting what I had for every meal.

What made you decide to join the 8-week mentorship?

After listening to Julie’s podcast for a few weeks and feeling like she was speaking directly to everything I was thinking - from realistic tools for meal planning, finding balance, positive thinking to getting out of your own way - I knew I needed Julie actually speaking directly to me. I booked my free starter call with Julie and after that hour I knew we were a perfect match and Julie was exactly who I needed to help me unpack my deep-seated issues with food and nutrition.

Where do you think you'd be/how would things be different if you didn't sign up for the program?

Since working with Julie, I am able to love working out because it makes me feel strong and accomplished and not because I needed to burn calories or “fix” a part of my body; I am able to enjoy family events, pizza, dessert, and my favourite wine without feeling the need to go on a juice cleanse afterwards; I am able to wear a two piece bathing suit without wanting to hide in the corner. I am so far from the calorie-counting, yo-yo-dieting, zero-self-confidence person I was, I feel brand new. 

What's the biggest difference you've noticed physically, emotionally or mentally?

Physically my body hasn’t changed in the last few months, but that in itself is a major change from the last 10 years of my life. My weight fluctuated so often because I would be yo-yo dieting constantly, so a lack of change in that department is great progress for me! I am happier, kinder and so much less stressed. 

What are you MOST proud of?

To say I never have a negative thought about my eating or body would be a lie, but what I am most proud of is my ability to follow the negative with a positive. I have great daily habits that fulfill me, a plan for my nutrition that isn’t restrictive 

How is your life different now?

Food, my body and the constant war I was in no longer take up hours of time in my day. I have read more books, gone for so many more walks, trained a puppy to learn so many cute tricks, develop new skills and even started my own Etsy shop! 

What would you tell someone who's on the fence about joining?

Do it. You have nothing to lose. Literally, because if you’re thinking you need “to lose” those extra 5-10lbs to be happy, then you need Julie to help you discover why you are more than just a number in a way that gets through to you. There are so many “experts” you can get to write you a nutrition plan, claim it’s a lifestyle change and maybe you will even follow it for 8 weeks, but being able to work with Julie can actually change your life.
